Our Planet

Distractions or “strawmen” – something erected to scare off others. This seems to be gaining traction throughout the globe. For centuries farmers have erected scarecrows to keep the birds away from their seed and as time has progressed so has the effigy. No differently to the voices out there, with an intent to take our eyes of what really matters, the will of God for our lives.

As nations we get so locked into the tasks at hand that we deviate from the deeper meaning of our lives and this happens at a whim. What do humans long for? I suppose that would depend upon who is answering the question; they say “one man’s meat is another man’s poison”. But deep down we all have been made from the same substance and therefore have a similar drive. Sure, we all travel different roads to end up wherever we find ourselves, some are doctors whilst others study law, etc. Sadly for many we end up doing what it takes to survive, we don’t passionately live for our jobs. But we all, regardless of colour or creed, have an inward itch to understand what lies beyond the grave. How do I know this to be truth, well its simple, “And God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”  (Genesis 1:27) – God lives in the spiritual realm, a world that our carnal natures cannot see, but we all have souls that drive us to want to understand way beyond that which is seen. God created us in his image...

What I find rather fascinating is this, although God gave Adam dominion over the animals, it was never meant to captivate his mind to the exclusion of the ONE who created them. Adam’s seed, mankind, has now begun to run with the objective to save the planet. Some say it is too late, whilst others say if we act fast enough we can do it. But both camps express their opinions without the mention of God and His purposes. I will not be silent! Whilst we have breath we have hope, God affords us the opportunity to right our wrongs.

Here is the truth of the matter…

Sin has corrupted our world view on just about everything, it’s not that the science of it is wrong, but where we have missed the boat, is that nearly every discussion is at the exclusion of God, the creator of this planet and all its inhabitants.

The voices out there are looking to condition our convictions with “strawmen” or “scarecrows”. They want to jolt us off the truth.

Firstly for those not persuaded, let me establish some truths regarding our makeups. We have establish that God created us in his image and then gave mankind dominion over the planet. It is obvious that we do not dispute this, we have the power to save the planet by shifting our behaviour, at least on the surface this seems to be true. We are the custodians of the planet. But regardless of the plans we implement the outcome will be the same. God has spoken and so determined its outcome. This planet will be folded up like a garment and packed away for good. God will destroy it and not climate change. These are just the lures that have been implemented to keep you from the truth; God’s will for His creation.

None of the voices out there acknowledge Him as the Creator, however I often hear references to the universe and how we can draw on its energy and our vivacities are being spent on that which cannot be saved. I am not suggesting that global warming and the like aren’t real issues, they may well be. But what we should really be seeking out is what the Creator has in mind for earth's survival. After all does the potter not have power over the clay?

Have you ever seen the underdog dictating the outcome of a pressing issue? Revolution within a state can win the war, but God will never lose and the sooner you get on board, the sweeter the outcome. Ignore His voice at your own peril.

Instead of trying to save this planet for our children we should be leading them to God in and through the finished work of the cross. You are playing your part in sending them to hell, if you don’t make it your business to do everything in your power to find out what God has to say on any given subject.

Here is the voice of God; “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.” (Romans 1:16)

“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.” (Romans 1:18-23)

And

“Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them.” (Revelation 20:11) - “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.” (Revelation 21:1)

My conclusion is this, regardless of the energies spent, God’s resolve will have the final say, irrespective of the voices and the efforts instigated that look to contradict His voice.

Signing off
